I have had two sessions of gamma knife treatment to my brain tumours, I crashed prior to my third treatment and was admitted to petermac, they postponed my last treatment due to extensive brain swelling after the gamma knife, this is yet to be rescheduled. Over the next week I became very ill mentally and physically, I was experiencing disassociation and suicidal thoughts let alone the physical symptoms. I was rushed to emergency as I had become severely septic with crp levels of 280 (170 is very dangerous levels and normal is around 5) I had a week on the oncology ward with constant iv antibiotic treatment and tests, I had grown my own bacterial infection in lungs due to the long term steroids I was prescribed for the brain swelling. I also tested positive for influenza a, tail end of covid and pneumonia. The hospital staff and drs were fantastic at maroondah.
